Whipped Cinnamon Honey Butter takes your bread, biscuits, muffins, and rolls to the next level! It also makes a perfect edible food gift for the holidays!

We love to serve this honey butter up with our favorite Copycat Texas Roadhouse Rolls, Perfectly Moist Cornbread, or Amish White Bread!

This recipe isn't breaking any molds here as I've seen it all over the internet for years now described as a Texas Roadhouse copycat recipe. But it's too perfect for gift-giving not to share at this time of year (even if you should make it all year long!).

This quick and easy whipped cinnamon honey butter recipe comes together with just a handful of ingredients from the pantry and fridge that you can literally whip up in just a few minutes. It's a blend of sweet honey, creamy butter, warm cinnamon, and powdered sugar, with just a splash of vanilla.

Divide a batch of it between 3-4 small jars with lids and pair it with a loaf of freshly baked bread or even store-bought english muffins if you are crunched for time, and you've got a great gift idea for teachers, neighbors, or friends. Or make it for your own family and slather it on all the things!

Here are some of my favorite things to spread this cinnamon honey butter on:

I'm always on the lookout for fun and different teacher gifts and this one is great because it lasts as long as normal butter lasts.

I store a small jar in the cupboard for spreading on toast, biscuits, or muffins so that it spreads easily and the rest I keep in the fridge so it lasts longer. I like those cute glass yogurt jars or small jam jars with their labels removed to use for storing the honey butter to give to teachers, but you could use small disposable plastic containers or small ceramic crocks.

The dollar section at Target often has good choices for things like this that would be inexpensive and pretty for gift-giving!

How to Make Whipped Cinnamon Honey Butter

  1. Beat softened (but not melted!) butter using a hand mixer or in the bowl of a stand mixer with the paddle attachment until creamy and smooth.
  2. Add honey, a little powdered sugar, cinnamon, a pinch of salt, and a splash of vanilla extract.
  3. Beat again until smooth.
  4. Transfer to a bowl for serving or divide into smaller jars for gift giving.

Does honey butter need to be refrigerated?

No, this whipped cinnamon honey butter does not need to be refrigerated if you plan to eat it within a week or so.

Basically, if you are like me and leave a stick of butter on a butter dish in your cupboard so you have soft butter for spreading on toast or whatever, that's how I treat smaller jars or containers of this whipped cinnamon honey butter as well.

If you choose to store the cinnamon honey butter in the fridge, it will last longer, but you will want to pull it out of the fridge and let it sit on the counter for at least an hour or two to soften so it can easily spread on whatever you are having it with.

Can I freeze honey butter?

Yes, you can freeze honey butter! Just spoon any honey butter you aren't going to use right away onto a piece of plastic wrap, then tightly roll it up into a log and wrap with another layer of plastic wrap. Store in a freezer-safe ziploc bag for up to a couple of months in the freezer, then just thaw overnight in the fridge or on the counter when ready to use.

Honey Butter Variations

If cinnamon isn't your thing, try replacing the cinnamon with 2-4 teaspoons of grated orange zest for orange honey butter or 2-4 teaspoons of grated lemon zest for lemon honey butter!

Obviously more zest will increase the level of orange or lemon flavor so you can get the taste you want.

These are fun ways to change things up with the seasons and I think the lemon honey butter variation is perfect for springtime over scones for a Mother's Day brunch, bridal showers, garden parties, or other similar occasions.

  1. Thank you so much for this beautiful recipe - I have some local raw honey and Im keen to make this butter with it!

Just a tiny thing though - I notice you used Weck jars in your photos, which is fantastic, but when you advised how to freeze the butter you used two pieces of plastic wrap AND a snap lock bag! Thats an awful lot of single use plastic for a small amount of butter. Do you think there is another way to store the frozen butter? Perhaps in a freezer safe mason/preserving jar?

Would you consider suggesting alternatives to plastic wrap in future recipes?
