Ingredients

  • 1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 1/2 cups ice cold water
  • 1 (3.4 oz.) box vanilla instant pudding mix
  • 3 cups heavy cream
  • 4 cups sliced barely ripe bananas
  • 1 (12 oz.) box Nilla Wafers

Instructions

  1. Beat the sweetened condensed milk and water in a large bowl using a hand mixer until combined. Add the vanilla instant pudding mix and beat well for 2-3 minutes, then set in the refrigerator to chill completely and set up, at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Beat the heavy cream in a large bowl with an electric mixer or stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment until stiff peaks form. Fold the whipped cream into the banana pudding with a spatula, taking care not to deflate the whipped cream too much but making sure everything gets mixed evenly.
  3. Arrange 1/3 of the Nilla wafers in the bottom of a trifle dish, 9x13-inch pan, or even individual mason jars or cups. Add 1/3 of the sliced bananas, then spoon 1/3 of the pudding over the top of these.
  4. Repeat the layers 2 more times, reserving a few Nilla wafers and bananas for decorating the top.
  5. Cover with plastic wrap and chill for at least 4 hours or up to 8 hours until set up and the Nilla Wafers have softened. You don't want to go much longer than 8 hours or the bananas will start to turn brown.

Notes

  • Selecting underripe bananas at the store helps keep them from turning brown too quickly once your slice them. To keep sliced bananas from turning brown, you can also try brushing them with a little lemon juice or club soda.
