- 2 cups white chocolate melting wafers
- 8 Oreos, finely ground
Filling Ideas
- Ice cream, whipped cream, Oreo cookies, Oreo cookie crumbs, brownies, sliced strawberries, etc.
Follow the melting instructions on the package. Make sure not to overheat, it will create a chunky texture. If You need to thin the chocolate (because brand textures vary), you can add ½ tablespoon of vegetable oil to thin it a bit. Place all but 2 tablespoons of ground Oreos into the melting chocolate and mix well.
Dip the bottoms of the balloons into the melted white chocolate. Coat each piece thoroughly to form a bowl at the bottom of the balloon.
Place the coated balloons on parchment paper in the refrigerator for 30 minutes, or until the chocolate has hardened.
Pop the balloons with a tiny hole near the knot of the balloon to deflate them very slowly. Remove the balloon from the white chocolate shells.
Fill the white chocolate balloon bowls with vanilla ice cream and garnish with chopped Oreos. Or fill the bowl with other goodies!
Storage
- Store: These chocolate balloon bowls are best served fresh. If you must save them for later, carefully wrap each bowl in plastic wrap before filling them with ice cream. Store them in the refrigerator (be sure to position them so they won’t be crushed) for up to 4 days. When you are ready to enjoy, fill the bowls with ice cream and chopped Oreos.
- Freeze: After popping the balloons, wrap each of the chocolate bowls in plastic wrap and store them in the freezer for up to 3 months. Keep in mind that they break easily, so it’s best to position them so that they will not be crushed by other items in the freezer. Allow the bowls to thaw in the refrigerator before filling them with ice cream or other snacks.
