Cookie Mix in a Jar

Ingredients

  • cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup packed light brown sugar
  • ½ cup red & green holiday M&Ms
  • ½ cup semisweet chocolate chips

To assemble

  • ½ cup (1 stick) softened butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

How to layer:

  • In a small bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Pour this mixture into the bottom of your clean jar and tap gently to level it out.
    1¾ cup all-purpose flour, ½ teaspoon baking soda, ½ teaspoon salt
  • Add the white sugar as the next layer, then the brown sugar.
    ½ cup packed light brown sugar, ½ cup granulated sugar
  • Carefully layer in the chocolate chips, followed by the M&Ms.
    ½ cup red & green holiday M&Ms, ½ cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • Seal the jar tightly and decorate with a ribbon and a tag.

To bake:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F
  • In a large bowl, beat together the butter, egg, and vanilla.
    ½ cup (1 stick) softened butter, 1 egg, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Add the contents of the jar and stir until combined.
  • Drop rounded spoonfuls onto a baking sheet.
  • Bake 8–10 minutes or until edges are golden. Cool & enjoy!

Notes

Storage & Make Ahead

  • Store: Keep the baked cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for a few days to maintain their soft, chewy texture.
  • Freeze: Freeze the baked cookies in a sealed container for up to three months.
  • Make Ahead: You can mix the cookie dough in advance and chill it for up to two days or freeze the dough balls for up to three months for easy baking later.
