Alaska

These recipes showcase just some of the foods that Alaska is famous for. Alaska is known as “The Last Frontier” and was the 49th state to join the United States of America in 1959. It’s home to glaciers and grizzlies, Denali National Park and the Northern Lights. We were able to finally visit this incredible state in 2023 when we went salmon fishing on the Kenai River and saw bears at Lake Clark National Park!

Alaskan food is closely tied to the land and sea, so I chose Hot Smoked SalmonHow to Cook Alaskan King Crab Legs, and Smoked Salmon Chowder to showcase the bounty of the ocean. And for dessert, a Mixed Berry Cobbler celebrating the wild berries that grow in the summer there and made in a cast iron skillet harking back to the days of the Klondike gold rush.

One of these days I hope to visit and try reindeer sausage as well!
