Florida

These recipes showcase just some of the foods that Florida is famous for. “The Sunshine State” and was the 27th state to join the U.S.A. It’s also home to alligators, Cape Canaveral, Everglades National Park, Biscayne National Park, and Dry Tortugas National Park, which is accessed by a three hour boat ride from Key West!

A large part of Florida’s population has Cuban heritage, so it’s not surprising that many of the foods that best represent Florida reflect that from Slow Cooker Cuban Mojo Pork, to Cuban Sandwiches (Cubanos), to Guava Cream Cheese Cuban Pastries (Pastelitos de Guayaba y Queso).

But Florida is also famous for its Key Lime Pie, oranges (the official state fruit, Florida produces 75% of the nation’s oranges and 40% of the worldwide orange juice supply), strawberries (Florida is the “Winter Strawberry Capital of the World”), and it’s seafood from stone crabs to conch.
