Peach season doesn’t last long but we look forward to it every summer! These are our favorite peach recipes that are guaranteed to satisfy any peach craving. Peaches have an amazing flavor and we get so excited when they start showing up in the local farmer’s market every summer!
If you have an abundance of peaches and you can’t eat them fast enough, then these recipes will be perfect for you! Everything from homemade peach ice cream to fresh peach pie and more. All tried and true recipes and always delicious!
The Best Time of Year for Fresh Peaches
Typically late summer is when you need to be on the lookout for fresh peaches. Late July and August is peak peach season in most places. But if you live in a more temperate climate, peaches will have a longer season that will start in June and go until September! Lucky you!
If you are wondering which type of peach to use for baking (yes there is more than one type of peach!) I would highly suggest finding yellow Freestone peaches. Sometimes you don’t have a choice with the types of peaches your store has or ones you can find at the farmers market, but if you can find Freestone peaches, they are the best for baking. Freestone peaches are good for baking and cooking because the flesh easily separates from the pit making this peach easy to peel and slice.
Cling peaches are the other main type of peach and they “cling” to the peach pit making it difficult to remove without tearing up the rest of the peach. Usually grocery stores don’t identify the variety, but sometimes farmer’s markets will. Both peaches taste just as delicious, but we would recommend simply slicing the peach away from the stone if you end up with cling peaches.
While the peaches are in season, go to your local farmer’s market or grocery store and take advantage of their sweet juicy flavor. Nothing beats a perfectly ripe, juicy peach!
Our Favorite Peach Desserts
Is there a more classic dessert than a fresh peach cobbler? Nothing screams comfort food more than a big scoop of hot cobbler topped with vanilla ice cream. It’s the epitome of summer!
I don’t mean to brag but this is the best fresh peach cobbler I have ever had. The cobbler topping is a cross between a cake and a biscuit and makes the best crust that is soft yet has a good crispy bite to it. The peach filling is juicy and not overly sweet and really highlights that amazing peach flavor.
PRO TIP: Don’t skip the extra sprinkle of sugar for crunch on top.
Do you need a classic summer peach pie? Look no further. This pie is so simple and easy to make and the only oven time is blind baking the crust, which takes no time at all. And you could even use a premade graham cracker crust if you wanted to. You don’t need to heat up your kitchen baking a pie in the heat wave of summer.
The homemade peach filling is a perfect consistency and not too thick. I don’t necessarily always love an overly jellified filling and really want the peach flavor to shine through. I made sure the ratio of ingredients made it perfect!
And be sure to check out the post for my secret ingredient! The flavor it adds to this fresh peach pie will really set it apart from all other pies! It’s so good!
Can I tell you a secret? I love all of my peach recipes, but this may be my favorite recipe involving peaches. And thousands of you also agree with me.
This is by far one of my most popular recipes every summer. Once you take a bite of this homemade peach ice cream, you will know why. It’s loaded with pure, natural peach flavor, nothing artificial or syrupy.
It uses simple ingredients that come together to make the creamiest peachiest, most delicious peach ice cream you will ever have!
Do you have a combination of flavors that you love? Peaches and raspberries are one of mine. I love the tartness the raspberries bring to the sweet peaches. Individually these are two of my favorite fruits and when they are brought together baked in a pie with a buttery flaky crust, its a flavor explosion and everything I could ever hope for in a pie.
Honestly, the hardest part about this pie is keeping my family from eating all the peaches so I can save enough to make a pie!
Panzanella salad is an Italian bread salad that originates from the Tuscany region of Italy. The key ingredient to a panzella salad is using day old bread to soak up the delicious dressing.
I’ll be honest, I was a little hesitant putting this salad together wondering how it was going to taste but when I set it out on the dinner table with my family and dinner guests, it quickly got eaten! I was so glad I had enough ingredients leftover to make some more the next day!
When I buy an abundance of peaches from the farmer’s market (I can’t get enough), it’s fun trying something new to make. I tried these grilled peaches and they blew me away with their warm, juicy flavors!
The heat from the grill brings out the natural sugars in the peaches and caramelizes the edges. Top it off with some honey drizzled over top and a big scoop of ice cream and it was a lot like eating a fresh peach pie but without all the work and ready in 6 minutes.
Can you tell I sort of like pie?! Nothing makes me happier than a homemade slice of pie with a big scoop of ice cream. Pie is hands down my favorite dessert and peaches are my favorite fruit so a classic peach pie is truly my best friend.
The juiciest, sweetest peaches in a warm filling with a buttery, flaky double-crust will always make the most amazing pie. The pie will be delicious, even with peaches that may not have the sweetest flavor. It’s always a winner!
If you have been wanting to use your bundt pan more, let this be your sign. The tight, buttery crumb of my favorite cream cheese pound cake is perfectly matched up with chunks of fresh peaches and a cinnamon crumb filling. Our peach cobbler pound cake makes a delicious breakfast treat or a fabulous summer dessert with a scoop of ice cream on the side.
My husband declared this his favorite dessert I made this summer. It’s so simple and really showcases fresh peaches which are layered between a creamy almost no-bake cheesecake situation on a graham cracker crust. The little bit of almond extract is the perfect complement to the bright, tangy flavor of the yellow peaches.
Easier than making a pie, our rustic peach galette is as tasty as it is beautiful. Kids love helping with this one because they can arrange the peach slices and fold over the galette crust themselves. You don’t even need to bother peeling the peaches because the peach skins soften in the oven while the galette bakes.
Want to impress with the absolutely minimum effort? Turnovers are the way to go. This recipe uses store bought puff pastry with a simple homemade peach filling. You can finish them off with coarse sanding sugar for more of a crunch or a sweet glaze drizzled over the top. Enjoy them for breakfast, brunch, or a fun and simple dessert!
These juicy, sweet peach crumb bars have a buttery shortbread crust and crumbled topping that makes for delicious handheld squares of peach perfection. These are great for summer potlucks, family reunions, and picnics.
Sometimes a fresh fruit salad that is light and refreshing is the perfect addition to a great dinner or potluck or breakfast or afternoon snack. The fresh fruit totally hits the spot and the Honey Lim Poppy Seed Dressing adds a fun twist to the fruit salad.
I know, summer fruits hardly need any dressing at all, but really this quick, easy glaze draws out the flavor of the fruit and takes fruit salad to the next level. Plus, the lime adds a bright citrus note while serving double duty keeping the bananas and other fruits fresh and preventing them from browning and looking, um, not fresh.
Have you ever made an Italian Cream Soda? They are so easy and delicious and fun to serve at any gathering or really anytime! If you want to make a dinner or any get together instantly more fun, add an Italian cream soda bar!
My personal favorite is the Raspberry Peach flavor and I give you all the measurements and ingredients you need for a perfect Italian Cream Soda!
When summer hits and the peaches start rolling out, I get giddy with excitment! Fresh summer peaches are my fresh favorite fruit so I always have to replenish my stock of peach freezer jam so I can enjoy it any time I like all year round. It’s like bottling up summer and store bought peach jam has nothing on the homemade kind.
This recipe takes just 30 minutes and only five ingredients! It’s so easy and well worth it!
If I see a peach milkshake on the menu, I have to try it! Fresh peaches are my favorite and nothing beats a fresh peach milkshake! I was so excited to create the perfect peach milkshake that tastes even better than the Chick-fil-A version!
This homemade peach milkshake recipe is the flavor of summer and it will make the best peach milkshake of your life! It’s an easy recipe an a great way to use those ripe, juicy peaches.
