The TikTok Cookie Croissant is the latest viral internet trend and it comes straight out of Paris, France. Flaky, crisp croissants crossed with gooey, chocolate chip cookie dough make the ultimate French & American fusion dessert. This is one trend you have to try!

These cookie croissants are possibly the best French-American collaboration since Hamilton and Lafayette. If you haven’t yet seen the videos of folks biting into buttery, shatteringly crisp croissants stuffed with warm, molten cookie dough, let me enlighten you. The original “Crookie” was created at the Boulangerie Louvard in Paris and seems to have gone viral after being shared by TikTok’er Anna Kloots. Although if someone shared it earlier, please let me know!
I’m usually wary about a new food trend but these definitely do not disappoint. If you are a fan of chocolate chip cookies, cookie dough-inspired desserts, pain aux chocolate, cronuts, or even good old almond croissants, I’m confident you will enjoy these as much as we did. I’m obsessed.

What is a Cookie Croissant?
The original bakery describes their “le crookie” as a “croissant pur beurre garnit d’une généreuse pâte à cookie mi-cuite”, which means “a pure butter croissant topped with a generous half-baked cookie dough.” Thank you Google Translate.
What You’ll Need
- Croissants – I picked up a box of croissants from the Costco bakery for these and they were fantastic. It’s even okay to use day-old or frozen croissants for this because baking them with the cookie dough will freshen them right up.
- Cookie Dough – I made a half batch of my favorite chocolate chip cookie dough for these but any cookie dough would work. You could even use store-bought Nestle Tollhouse cookie dough rather than making your own.
How to Make Cookie Croissants
- Start by slicing your croissants in half horizontally with a long, sharp serrated knife.
- Press cookie dough onto the cut surface of one side of the croissant until it is pretty much covered. How much is really up to you, but I used about 3 to 4 Tablespoons worth of cookie dough to cover the inside of my croissant.
- Fold over the croissant to sandwich the cookie dough in the middle and press even more cookie dough on top. I used my fingers to sort of flatten out a spoonful of cookie dough and pressed it onto both sides of the top of the croissant. You don’t want a big mound of cookie dough on top of it will just fall off once the crookies start baking in the oven.
- Bake at 375°F for 12-14 minutes until golden brown on top. If you are using smaller, little mini croissants you will want to reduce the bake time a bit. And if you prefer your cookies more well-done (less raw cookie dough on the inside) then you will want to bake these even longer. Let them cool for 5-10 minutes before dusting with powdered sugar and serving warm!
DISCLAIMER: The middle is going to be undercooked (remember, the original bakery describes theirs as “half-baked”). It will be very hot and gooey but also underbaked and molten, even though the cookie dough on top of the croissant is golden brown. I understand that is not everyone’s cup of tea. Please make adjustments to your bake time accordingly.

Substitutions and Variations
- Try a different type of cookie dough! I imagine these would be fantastic with snickerdoodle cookie dough, chocolate brownie cookie dough, and all kinds of other cookie doughs.
- Add nuts! I’m a huge fan of chopped walnuts in my chocolate chip cookies and they would work perfectly here as well. Even if you go with a store-bought tub of cookie dough, you can sprinkle some chopped walnuts on before sandwiching the croissant together and baking.

Ingredients
- 4 large croissants
- 1/2 cup salted butter softened
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour (188g)
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Slice croissants in half horizontally. Set aside.4 large croissants
- Cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a large bowl until light, around 2-3 minutes. Add egg and vanilla extract.
