Best Time of Year for Strawberries

While you can find fresh strawberries year round at most grocery stores, peak strawberry season in most parts of the country is typically from April through late June or early July. And what better way to celebrate the return of this ruby red favorite than by using them in some of our favorite strawberry recipes?

Here in Northern California we get really excited for Spring to arrive because that means fresh strawberries at all the local U-pick farms. If you have any local farmer’s markets or U-pick farms I highly suggest going there for a flat of fresh strawberries while they are at their juiciest state. Nothing beats a freshly picked, ripe, juicy strawberry! They taste so much better!

If you don’t have access to fresh strawberries, don’t fear because there is luckily an abundance of frozen strawberries widely found in stores. Many of these recipes can be made using frozen strawberries if you find yourself in a bind and can’t get your hands on some fresh strawberries.

Don’t know what to make with all of those fresh strawberries? Take a look at the recipes below and try some of our reader favorites like the Award Winning Strawberry Rhubarb Pie, Fresh Strawberry Cupcakes, or our Homemade Strawberry Ice Cream.
