Pie

I LOVE pie. It’s my favorite. No really, it is. I love all desserts, but I’ll take pie over any other choice any day of the year.

Whether you are looking for easy pie recipes for Thanksgiving dessert or heading to a Pi Day pie party (we throw one every March 14th with as many friends as we can get!), there is a pie for every occasion!

I’m a huge fan of flaky, buttery pie crust and fruit pies. I have even won a contest or two with my strawberry rhubarb pie, peach pie, and homemade blackberry pie. I always start with my perfect pie crust recipe, which is the best of both worlds using butter for flavor and shortening for the flakiest pastry ever.

And sometimes I think my husband asked me to marry him just because of my banana cream pie.

What tools do you need to make a pie?

  • 9″ Pie Plates: Pie plates can vary in size and depth, but all of the pie recipes on my site are made with 9″ pie plates unless otherwise noted.
  • Pastry Cutter: For cutting butter and shortening into flour to make a perfectly flaky pie crust.
  • Rolling Pin
  • Pie Shield: This helps protect the edges of the crust from getting too brown while the pie bakes.
  • Pie Weights: For blind-baking a pie crust.

If you don’t find what you are looking for or have baking questions, email me at amy@houseofnasheats.com and tell me what pie recipes YOU want to see on here. I’ll see if I can add the recipe to my collection! There is a good chance that I have one and just haven’t gotten around to posting it yet!
