  • Oreo Cookies – The base for your little spiders. The cream side is perfect for holding everything together.
  • Pretzel Sticks – These are your spider legs! The salty crunch pairs nicely with the sweet Oreo.
  • Semisweet Chocolate Chips – Melted chocolate holds the pretzels in place and adds extra flavor to these spooky treats.
  • Candy Eyeballs – These fun candy pieces give your spiders a cute but spooky look.
  • Candy Corn – This will become the “teeth” of your spiders, adding a touch of color and Halloween fun.

How to Make Halloween Oreo Spiders

  1. Prepare Oreos. Carefully twist apart each Oreo so the cream stays on one side. Be gentle! You want to keep that creamy filling intact for your spider assembly.

  1. Melt chocolate. Place your semisweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Melt in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate is smooth and fully melted.
  2. Assemble spider legs. Break your pretzel sticks in half. Dip the ends of each pretzel into the melted chocolate and press them into the cream side of the Oreo. Use four pretzel halves on each side to create your spider’s legs.
  1. Add Oreo top and eyes. Place the top of the Oreo back on while the chocolate is still melted, securing everything together. Use a dab of melted chocolate to attach the candy eyeballs to the top of the Oreo.

  1. Add teeth. For the teeth, cut off the white tips of the candy corn and stick them into the cream layer of the Oreo, pressing gently to secure them.
  2. Let it set. Allow the melted chocolate to cool and harden, securing all the pieces together. Your spooky Oreo spiders are now ready to enjoy!

Recipe FAQ’s

Can I use white chocolate instead of semisweet chocolate?

Absolutely! Melted white chocolate chips would work just as well and can even add a fun contrast to the dark Oreo cookie.

What if I don’t have candy corn?

No problem! You can skip the teeth, or use a small piece of black licorice or another small candy for a different look.

Are there alternatives to pretzel sticks for the spider legs?

Yes! You can use Pocky sticks or black licorice for a different style of legs.

How should I store the Oreo spiders?

Keep them in an airtight container at room temperature. Avoid refrigerating, as this can make the cookies and pretzels less crunchy.

How far in advance can I make these Oreo spiders?

You can make them up to two days ahead. Just store them in an airtight container to keep them fresh.

Tips for Success

  • Make sure the chocolate is still melted when assembling the spider legs—this helps everything stick together.
  • If you’re working with little ones, try pre-breaking the pretzels and pre-melting the chocolate to make things go smoother.
  • Use a toothpick to place the candy eyeballs on the Oreo. This gives you more control and less mess.
  • Let the Oreo spiders sit for at least 10 minutes to allow the chocolate to fully harden before moving them.

  • Use dark chocolate chips for a richer flavor and more dramatic look to your spider cookies.
  • Try swapping regular Oreos for a fun flavored version like pumpkin spice or mint for an extra twist!

Storage & Make Ahead
  • Store: Keep your Oreo spiders in an airtight container at room temperature. They’ll stay fresh and crunchy for up to three days.
  • Freeze: Freezing these isn’t recommended as it can make the pretzels and cookies lose their crunch. Better to enjoy them fresh!
  • Make Ahead: You can easily make these Halloween treats up to two days in advance. Just store them in an airtight container to keep them from getting stale. Perfect for prepping ahead of a big Halloween bash!
